In addition to the primary duties of a physical therapy assistant, there are many secondary tasks that are required to be performed. The main task or job is to focus on the medical history of the patient, the patient’s posture, respiration, balance and physical co-ordination. If you are a physical therapy assistant then you will have to do a bit of mind storming and formulate techniques which can help the patients. In case your patient is not physically active then you will have to help him/her to exercise so as to improve his/her endurance, strength and flexibility.

Your main target should be to ensure that the person whom you are looking after is able to carry out day-to-day activities without any problem or pain. If required then you will also have to give the patients hot packs or cold compresses in order to relax the muscles. Physical therapy assistants also help their patients’ use wheelchairs, prosthetic aids and crutches to facilitate movement.
